Continuing the Journey: Devlog #2

Design log Update:

The artists have been busy gathering refferences and putting together an art bible that includes all the design details for our game. This is a big step in our design journey. It shows that our team is working hard and paying close attention to make sure everything in the game looks and fits together well. As we gather pictures and create a guidebook, we're building a strong base for a fun and interesting game. Everyone's working together to make sure all the parts of the game will look good together, making it a cool experience for players. This stage is important, and it sets us up nicely for the next steps in making our game.

Development Log Update:

In our latest update, we've made significant progress in enhancing the AI of our enemies through the implementation of advanced pathfinding techniques. Here are the key developments:

Enhanced Enemy Tracking: Utilizing A* pathfinding, our enemies can now intelligently follow the player.

Multiplayer Consideration: In scenarios with multiple players, the enemy AI is designed to target the player closest to it. This decision-making process adds an extra layer of strategy for players.

Collision Avoidance: improvements in our AI's navigation to avoid obstacles, including walls. Enemies now take the shortest possible path to the player while smartly circumventing barriers, making their movement more realistic and predictable for an immersive game experience.

Spawn Randomness: We've introduced a system that allows for controlled randomness in enemy spawns. Enemies can be configured to spawn in waves, either based on time intervals or upon the elimination of all existing enemies.

Stealth and Patrol Systems: A basic patrol system has been implemented for testing stealth mechanics. Additionally, a start of "cone of view" system. When a player is spotted by an enemy, an alert symbol is now displayed, signaling the player's detection.

The plan for the coming week is:

Now that the bulk of the prototyping phase is behind us, we're excited to transition into the next stage where we integrate all the components into a playable game. This phase allows us to fine-tune various parameters, ensuring a balanced and engaging experience for players.

On the artistic front, our focus now shifts towards refining the environments and characters. This is an exciting juncture where the game starts taking shape, allowing us to see the tangible results of our creative efforts.
